A brief history of the school

St. John’s School is a private Roman Catholic English Medium School with co-education in Nagpur, Maharashtra, India. The motto of our school is ‘Empower to Excel’. Situated in the heart of the orange city of Maharashtra, it had a humble beginning in the year 2009. St. Joseph’s Technical Institute, where St. John’s Public School stands now, had its beginning in 1898 and was closed about 100 years later (1997-1999). After about ten years in 2009, it had its rebirth as a CBSE school with the name Fr. Peter Mermier Pre-primary School under the leadership of the founder Fr. Pius Gonsalves. The school later got its name as St. John’s Public School in the year 2012.

Community Service

To inculcate life skills amongst the students, we have started a drive by the name of ‘Neki Ka Pitara’ (Helping Hands) whereby we installed a fridge in the school campus in which the students contribute their offerings of love in the form of various items on their birthdays. This is then distributed to the under privileged children under the banners of various missionaries.

Teacher Welfare and Development Programs

It is the need of the modern world to empower our learners with modern skills to able to deal with it and for that we teachers need to adopt our roles and techniques. St. John’s Public School provides ample opportunities to the teachers to update and upgrade themselves with the 21^st century teaching-learning skills through its eminent resource persons like:

Mrs. Raja Rajeswari — Freelance trainer from Spring Ahead Foundation Hyderabad, who focuses primarily on the following factors.

• Learners as Leaders: Under this skill even learners who are slower academically can also be given leadership with some simple tasks which focuses on their likings.
• Linking Text to Ignite Imagination: Under this skill role play, visualising a situation, writing short poem, dialogues with real and imaginary characters boost the creativity and imagination of the children.

Dr. Neelkanth — Consulting psychologist, freelance trainer, councillor and life coach. He has also done his Ph. D in Psychology. He focuses primarily on the following factors:

• To help students develop problem solving skills to be able to take their own decisions.
• De-addiction from behavioural disorders.

St. John’s Public School aims at imparting sound education for the all round development of each child who will be an asset to the country and honour to the family.

At present the school functions with around 900 students and sufficient qualified teaching and non-teaching staff. It strives to provide quality education to the utmost satisfaction of the students and parents.
